Tax Season

The Tax Year in New Hampshire and Massachusetts are based on a fiscal year, running from April 1 through March 31 of the following year. Towns bill the taxpayer in one of the following manners.

Annual: If your Town bills on an annual basis, the taxes are owed on December 1st.

Semi-Annual: If your Town bills twice a year.

The first billing is due on July 1

The bill covers the period from April 1st through September 30th and is based on one-half of the previous years' tax bill.

The second billing is due on December 1

The bill covers the period from October 1st through March 31st of the following year.

Quarterly: If your town bills four times per year.

The first billing is due April 1

The bill covers the period from April 1st through June 30th

The second billing is due July 1

The bill covers the period from June 1st through September 30th

The third billing is due October 1

The bill covers the period from October 1st through December 31st

The fourth billing is due December 31

The bill covers the period from January 1st through April 30th
